I just read that the spoof Alternative 3 has come out in DVD. Who cares? The HBs apparently: follow the white rabbit... I mean the link.

What is Alternative 3? Is it a parody on stuff like Bart Sibrel's films, or something?
EDIT: The downloadable parts look like they were exported at 1FPS.

Alternative 3 is basically a prank episode of Anglia TV's Science Report, broadcast in 1977. This fake documentary uncovered a conspiracy to set up a colony on Mars to flee from an ecological disaster on Earth.
Just like for the mockumentary about Kubrick faking the Moon landings, some conspiracy theorists did not get the joke.

Alternative 3 typically end up in the top 10 April Fools films. Typically many TV stations run spoofs or hoaxes on April the first as a joke. News reports such as " Spagetti trees" and the Left Handed Whopper come to mind.

I think one of the issues was that it actually got bumped from the April 1 slot it was supposed to be played in, which didn't help some people get the joke. There are a lot of spoof doco's about, over here we have had an entire slew of them. One programme was the main culpit, Country Calader, which did everything from Turkeys wearing gumboots, to farmers playing classical music on tuned fence wires to remote control dogs. Even Peter Jackson got into the spirit of the Hoax with Forgotten Silver, the story of New Zealand's first film maker, Colin McKenzie.
