Eh, maybe they're still there but you know... dead. Or maybe they're like a huge terra cotta army in stasis waiting for a magic reanimation spell.
I, for one, welcome our new golem overlords

I think you mean "underlords".

Only until they erupt from their dark underworld, presumably from the sewers, the manholes becoming so many glorious volcanoes spilling clay figures dressed in fatigues! Then they'll be rightfully called overlords. Until then, yeah... I stand corrected. Underlords.

Maybe the CHUDS ate them all.

Jason, it took me a while but I finally watched C.H.U.D. to understand what you meant.
I must insist that my terra cotta army theory makes more sense than that movie.

Actually I think I've only ever seen parts of the movie. But if you liked the first one so much you probably want to stay away from CHUD II: Bud the CHUD.

Sort of a Prediction,
England will not make the Semi Finals in the Rugby, will lose to Wales in the Quarter finals starting a long and bloody Civil war in the UK.
Aus v NZ & France v Wales for the the Semis
France will Dominate, and probably win.
Argentina and the USA will provide some good suprises (possibly Argentina for the Semis even but if the pool matches go as I expect they will have to topple France in the quarters)
Do we have many other fans of the game on here?

I'm a kiwi, what do you think?
Actually if the All Blacks get to the Final, I doubt that they'll let Fance do them again. I'm just worried that they are likely to face Australia in the semis. We haven't beaten the Ozzies in a World Cup game yet.

Doh! Forgot about the high proportion of Kiwis and Wallabies on this site I think it almost a certainty of an Aus NZ semi can't really see an alternative such as Wales or Scotland winning their group (or then again I might have written my QFs dowen wrong (Again)) The All Blacks could throw a match or 2 and let wales Win the group of course ;D ;D ;D ;D that could make for an Aus NZ Final or If France wuss out (Doubtful), and England manage to run with the ball , We could meet Aus/NZ in the Final MWHUHUHAHAHA!

France will dominate and win? It's doubtful that France will wuss out? Rugby must take place in some kind of alternate universe.

I used to play rugby a bit in high school. Loved playing it. I liked the purity of it - no equipment, just toughness and speed. Never watched or followed it though. I gather that Canada has lots of spirit, but not enough talent. Too bad, I bet if rugby was bigger over here we'd develop a great team to compete.

Canada is doing alright at the rugby (you Qualified), there opener against Wales I think will either be a very close low try game (15-13), or the Welsh Dragon will make Canuckmallows out of you 85-3 style
when it comes to Spirit that is the primary point of of the game really, it should all be done in the Spirit of the game. I am secretly hoping the USA do very well as would raise the profile in the US and might have some of there players switch to Union as opposed to that *Thing* of a game that is bastardized Rugby League but without the continuity.
7 Hours then I am off to The Pub and With a Beer in one hand I shall be watching the Match.
Heh Might even cheer the Argentinians.

I have a free preview of Setanta Sports Channel till Sept. 10 on my Cable Tv . Catching the France-Argentina game now. I'm surprised more people don't get spiked by the footwear in this game. Have any kickers been drafted by the NFL in the States?

The studs are supposed to be inspected for sharp edges before the game, and deliberately stamping on a fallen opponent is regarded as foul play, but yes, getting raked is something of an occupational hazard, especially for forwards (#s 1-8). But then as backs like to joke, multiplying a player's shirt number by 10 gives a fair estimate of his IQ...
There have been some players who made it in the NFL, but a goalkicker in rugby has to be able to do a lot more than just kick as substitution, while more of a feature of the game than it was, is far from the "free and unlimited" affair that plays such a part in making the American game what it is.
