Between the "I corrected Jay Utah," the "Babbling BAB Maggots" and this new "NASA Stooge and proud of it" shirts, I think we should open an account at Cafe Press.... Is the NASA logo public domain though?

For non-commercial purposes, yes, I believe so.

Actually all NASA logos are copyrighted and in theory need NASA's permission for thier useage. (I learned this when I was doing my site and wanted to use one.)

The most relevant sections from the NASA JSC Guidelines: NASA generally has no objection to the reproduction and use of NASA material (e.g., audio transmissions and recordings; video transmission or recordings; still or motion picture photography; or World Wide Web pages), subject to the following conditions: 1. You may use NASA imagery, video and audio material if it is for educational or informational purposes, including photo collections, textbooks, public exhibits and Internet Web pages. 2. This general permission does not include the NASA insignia logo (the blue "meatball" insignia), the NASA logotype (the red "worm" logo), and the NASA seal. These images may not be used by persons who are not NASA employees or on products (including web pages) that are not NASA sponsored. ... 11. Use of the NASA name or initials as an identifying symbol by organizations other than NASA (such as on foods, packaging, containers, signs, or any promotional material) is prohibited. The only exceptions are noted immediately below. -- NASA does permit the use of the NASA Logo and Insignia on novelty and souvenir-type items. However, such items may be sold and manufactured only after a proposal has been submitted to and approved by a representative from the Public Services Division (202/358-1750) in accordance with 14 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) Part 1221. NASA does not grant anyone exclusive rights to use any of the Agency identities. 12. NASA emblems should be reproduced only from original reproduction proofs, transparencies, or computer files available from NASA Headquarters. Please be advised that approval must be granted by the Public Services Division (see above) before any reproduction materials can be obtained.

Never knew that about NASA's copyright. Interesting.
Would be funny if they had similar regulations about the shuttle names or probe names.
Imagine this!

I seem to recall an Indiana Jones game from the 1980s where the villains were the "Nazis TM". It was the Indiana Jones role-playing game by TSR. If only we had thought to copyright the term "Nazi" in 1930. Hitler's entire rise to power would have been foiled by copyright law!

Are your discussions on another forum that we can take a look at? We're going through one of our quietest periods here. It's on YouTube. I dunno why, given those 500 character limits and the ease with which they can ban people who make inconvenient arguments. There are a couple of major-league hoaxheads there: moonmovies, straydog02 and sergemck. I have straydog02 insisting, absolutely INSISTING, that the world saw Gus Grissom's MR-04 flight live on TV, a closeup on his face showing it "distorted with g-forces" and him "freaking out" during his actual flight. I pointed out that the pilot observation cameras in the Mercury cameras were film, and the Liberty Bell sank with camera and film before being recovered, but no, he insists. After all, his parents saw it and they wouldn't lie. The same guy insists that James Van Allen didn't really mean what he said about the Fox special being entertaining nonsense. By then, you see, he'd become a "NASA team player" and didn't want to end up like Gus or Tom Baron, murdered... The mere notion of Van Allen being a "team player" when it comes to NASA's human spaceflight program is a pretty big howler in itself. I'm sure the rest of you have already noticed this many times, but it is extremely common for these guys to apply intuition to the physical behavior of things in a vastly different kind of environment than the one they're used to. Heat transfer in a vacuum is a good example, and it's harder to explain in just a sentence or two than, say, no visible stars or illuminated shadows. One guy quotes Alan Bean (out of context, of course) explaining that the LM's cooling system was powered by batteries and ridiculing that idea as if a huge air conditioner was powered by a pair of AA cells. Oh, and then we have the guy insisting that the recent 3D projections of SELENE terrain data to the surface vantage points of the Apollo 15 and 17 missions were "obviously" photoshopped. Why? Because they looked so much like the surface pictures!!

Isn't celebrating a banning something hoax believers do?

Isn't celebrating a banning something hoax believers do? Are you saying that you see no difference?

I see distinct similarities. It's true that our side is generally actually banned for bringing truth to the unenlightened masses, but it's what they think we're doing to them, too.
