That sounds like the noise a Jawa (Star Wars) would make. Like any self respecting member of this forum would need to be reminded that Jawas were from Star Wars. Humf! The article on Jawas from WookieepediaThank you for your measured reply. I was so stunned by the parentheses I did not know what to write.

The article on Jawas from WookieepediaI do like the Proton Torpedo entry. A whole entry about Proton Torpedos. Some people just have too much time on their hands.

Thank you for your measured reply. I was so stunned by the parentheses I did not know what to write. Someone over on BAUT felt the need to link to an explanation of what he meant by "Python" in a discussion of cross-dressing. Now there's someone who doesn't know the forum very well.

Which leads me to a book plug--Kim "Howard" Johnson's Monty Python's Tunisian Holiday is worth a read.

For some reason Gillianren, I already have you down as the person who enjoys/appreciates Python more than anybody on this forum. That is a compliment by the way.

Sometimes I have that feeling, no matter what I say, I might as well cut out the middle man and just keep digging

I love the quote from Michael Palin:
"We set out to create something totally new and unclassifiable; the very existence of the word 'Pythonesque' is a tribute to how badly we failed."

I will say I appreciate Life of Brian more than the average person. Studying history and theology tends to help with that. I'd also comfort Michael Palin with the note that most things described as "Pythonesque" aren't.

I'd also comfort Michael Palin with the note that most things described as "Pythonesque" aren't. Surely the fact that we feel we can define what is, and isn't, "Pythonesque" only serves to reinforce his point.

Yes, but the fact that a new word had to be invented doesn't. It was new, and then people copied it. It was undefinable, and then they made up a definition.

It was undefinable, and then they made up a definition. It still is in regards to the definition being circular. Pythonesque means that it follows the styling of or resembles Python.
