It's a few weeks late, but a funny story on the Onion yesterday brought my mind back to the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. I watched the show religiously (pun intended) from start to finish, and enjoyed it immensely. So I wondered what opinions where here for anyone who saw it.

I watched the show from start to finish as well. I also watched it in its 1978 and 1980 forms. I couldn't have wished for a better ending (with all the scientific plot holes intact). I guess the only criticism I would have is the lack of Starbuck resolution, and the complete abandonment of technology. Still for the purposes of the story its all good. I loved the last ep.

I also watched the '78 and '80 forms when they were first broadcast from start to finish.
I felt that Starbuck's story was adequately resolved. Presumably what she went through was what she needed before "going on".
The abandonment of technology is made at least semi-plausible by the fact that these people have been living in an artificial environment for the majority of the past four years (minus the time spent on New Caprica - and wasn't that a ball?). "Back to nature" under that circumstance makes some sense, especially considering that they have seen clear evidence of prior civilizations destroyed by rebellions of technology just as theirs was.

All things being equal the criticisms were ones that if I had to say, those were it. I thought it had a superb ending. I completely understand the throwing away the technology theme, although I don't know if I necessarily agree to completely abondoning it - but that's me: a big tech nut.
The feel of the scenes on earth were incredible. It really sums up the peace they must have felt to know they had found their new earth. How many people were brought to the surface again?

There were around 38,000 survivors in the fleet at the end of the series, plus however many humanoid Cylons came from the basestar.

I thought it was a great episode, I'm just sad that it had to end. Oh well... all good things end eventually.
I laughed a bit when Chief Tyrol described the small island where he was going to live... it sounded like he was describing Vancouver (where the show was filmed). And I got another chuckle from the cameo by Ronald Moore (he was the guy reading the magazine in modern day NYC).

But what of Boxy? I demand to know the ultimate fate of Boxy!
Ok, who else was half-expecting a line or voiceover (probably by Adama) to the effect of "There are those who believe that life here began out there..."

I did wonder if they were going to use the famous voice-over, but they did use the original Galactica theme while all the ships were flying off into the sun.
