GL, Stephen Hawking was given six months to live before I was born. Since I've been around here longer than six months, and alive a wee bit before that, I think we can pretty safely say he's beaten the odds.

I imagine his access to quality medical care also helps too. BTW, would your birth date be prior to 1980? Just curious how long he was given when I was born.

Hawking can still move a few fingers. He uses that to control the choice of words on this speech box. Fred Unfortunately this is not true. His ALS has progressed to the point where he he only has a small amount of control over the muscles in his right cheek. He now uses that to control his voice computer.
