since this is my first thread i should introduce myself. I'm from Croatia and I'm a supporter of Apollo program. I've recently talked to one of the hoaxies and he claims that the Apollo 16 LM ascent stage looks badly damaged. He claims that NASA made a bad job on making a fake model. he referenced this image: www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/alsj/a16/AS16-122-19533.jpgi've checked the LM diagram www.apolloarchive.com/apollo/lm_diagram.gifmy explanation is that this is the cargo storage bay, once the rover and science equipment was left on the Moon it looked empty. Just wanted to check with you guys first.

Yup, all those billions of dollars and they had to use a damaged model.

Just wanted to check with you guys first. All the cargo bays were on the descent stage so its not that. My guess would be that it is actual damage to the outer skin from something (are there pics showing that area taken on the Moon?), the outer skin of the LMs was non-structural and not part of the pressure vessel so it was made as light as possible meaning that its was only barely strong enough to hold together though the stresses of being launched into space, so long as it didn't develop big holes it would still do its primary job of shading the internal components.

This is a remarkable photo, but it is amazing to me that someone would look at this damage to the LM panels and come up with the conclusion that this is a model. What's the connection?

Apparently it is some sort of connection for HB's to use, but on the other hand why in the world would NASA use such photos if they were faking the mission? After all, the ascent stage of the LM never returned to Earth for examination, so why use a "damaged" LM upper ascent stage model for a hoax? There is nothing that makes any kind of sense on several levels. Neat photo though. Mariocro, welcome to the forum! Its nice to have you aboard. How are things in Croatia? Smaller countries like yours in the region have some unbelievably beautiful architecture. That is one thing which, well, pretty much anywhere but the USA, has compared to the USA.

I remember that being mentioned before. I read that the damage was possibly done by backwash reflecting off the from the descent stage during the ascent lift-off, or by a misfiring explosive bolt, or by a combination of the two. (I can't remember where I saw that though, it was a while ago.) It's mainly the thin mylar sheets flapping about so it looks more serious then it actually was.

There is nothing that makes any kind of sense on several levels. "Making Sense" and the belief in the Moonhoax are mutually exclusive. To me most of the Hoaxers' claims are a double insult to the Astronauts and NASA 1. That they would be so dishonest and unscrupulous to actually fake the landings 2. that they would be so utterly incapable and stupid to make the errors that are claimed by the Hoaxers

Yup, all those billions of dollars and they had to use a damaged model. All those billions of dollars and they couldn't re-use a model LM from a previous fake moon shot?

All those billions of dollars and they couldn't re-use a model LM from a previous fake moon shot? Of course not! We all "know" that each LM model got crushed by a bulldozer and then was compacted and recycled as soon as the "mission" was over in order to turn all of that aluminum into beer cans. Yep, Anheuser-Busch was in on the conspiracy too since everyone involved drank lots of beer. A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of mine's dad swears that this is what happened!
