Why does the profanity filter automatically change the word "astro not" (without the space) into the word "astronaut?
Is "Astro not" a profane word? If not, what generally accepted standards of decency does it breach, ie racism, sexism, homophobia etc?
Just curious.

The profanity filter censors out the word "Astron*t" because it makes the poster look an idiot, that's why. ;D

It's not a word I ever use myself, although I can understand it's meaning amongst Hoax Believers as "someone who claimed to be an astronaut but was not" Is there a legitimate reason why this word is subject to censorship? Just curious!

Shouldn't this be in the Tech Support forum!

Oh, for christs sake. Am I not allowed to have a little bit of fun? I added "astro not" (without the space) to the profanity filter after seeing countless HB's use it... each time thinking they were the first one to do so. It was only slightly funny the first time I saw it... Seriously, marga... oops, I mean Spongebob, do you have a purpose here other than to complain about the absolutely horrible treatment that hoax believers receive from me?

I figured it was preemptive filtering to minimize the workload on the servers. After every use of the word "Astron0t" several people are going to respond with "dumba$$," wasting valuable internet bandwidth.
BTW, LO, it seems rude to have "outed" Spongebob like that. Not rude to him, I mean rude to those of us that like playing "spot the sock."

Will someone please hand me a box of Kleenex Tissues? I can't take much more of this gushing. I got to get on with my life, but I just feel so much empathy for those not allowed to say the "astro" word! In fact I cant even wipe my mutual tears of sadness and hurt and I fear I might make spelling mistakes of "astronaut".

I guess it's possible there are two hoax believers using the exact same internet provider, from the exact same city, who both visit(ed) this forum for the sole purpose of pointing out every instance of unfair treatment HB's are subjected to here. How could I possibly have suspected you and Margamatix of being the same person? Edited to add: I've suspected you of being Margamatix since the very first time you posted, and despite the major rule violations Margamatix committed I let you continue posting anyway. How's that for unfair treatment? I even had lionking begging me to allow Margamatix back... little did she know I already had.

Stick it to 'em! You should also censor "astronutters" for good measure. But not "searing radiation hell" or "radiation oven." Those are too good.

I am not going to say which city your internet provider is in (even though by asking you are basically giving me permission to) because in the off chance you are telling the truth and really aren't Margamatix I would need his permission also. Besides, as I have said before, an IP address only gives the location of the internet provider, not the location of the person using it, so even though I strongly suspect you are Margamatix I can not use your IP as conclusive proof.
What convinced me that you are Margamatix (before I even compared your IP addresses) is your very similar personalities.

My internet provider is called BTinternet. BT stands for "British Telecom" and is the main provider of telecommunication services in the UK- probably 95% of domestic telephone lines in the UK are supplied by BT, and probably around 30% of internet connections. The city my internet provider is in is called "London", and as overwhelming as it might seem, there are more than two of us living here.

Two hoax believers in the same city, who just happen to both visit the same relatively obscure internet forum, and both have very similar personalities. Like I said, it's possible... but I don't believe it.

Getting back to the original point of this thread... how is it any different than a "spell check"? If someone spells "astronaut" incorrectly (intentionally or not) and the forum software automatically corrects it for them then I fail to see how they have been wronged. If anything I would expect those people to be grateful that the forum saved them some tiny bit of embarrassment.
This little "trick" I use does not change the overall meaning of the message the HB is trying to get out, their intention remains clear. It's not like I'm editing their message from one supporting a hoax theory to one supporting the "official story". I am simply removing what is basically an insult.
But I guess Spongebob believes that HB's are treated unfairly here. Boo-hoo. Go start your own forum then. Compared to the treatment Apollo supporters get in predominantly HB forums this is a very fair forum... anyone who disagrees with that will be banned forever! (a joke, spongebob, a joke.)
