The trouble with online research is that they can always explain something they don't agree with as "they" are spreading misinformation. "They" say there are geosynchronous satellites? Well, "they" are "known to be liars", so they don't need to be believed. It's harder to argue with looking at the sky, and seeing something with their own eyes. Is there a picture of "they"? Does it look like any of us?

I don't think people like that have any idea that satellites can be seen, or otherwise identified by us "normal" folks. Their "research" is all online, not real life. He should. Its been pointed out to him multiple times.

Otherwise, I'd say "they" look like normal people. For the obvious reason that that's who they are.

Way back in the 1980s someone in rural Texas, I think, published a great picture in Aviation Week showing the whole lineup of geostationary communication satellites as fixed dots of light in his sky, on a background of dashed lines (the stars moving past them as the earth turned - his camera was stationary). ... It would be fun to update that picture now that there's so much more up there. It should also reveal the spent satellites that have been moved to the "junkyard" orbit and satellites in GEO that have simply run out of fuel and gone into inclined and/or elliptical orbits. I just go here... www.heavens-above.com/I think you can also use Google earth for a 3D view of many orbits. Nothing beat NASA J-Track but for some reason they took it down! UUUGGHH!!

Oh, I'm well acquainted with heavens-above. But it's also fun to see actual pictures of satellites, not just computer renderings.

I've finally withdrawn from the David Icke forum. I PM'd a mod and asked for my account to be deactivated. Sorry to hear that you won't be posting there anymore, but I really think you set yourself up for failure from the beginning. I don't know what you, movingfinger, truegroup and other hoped to accomplish there. For me it was never to convince the likes of Stelios or or other of his ilk. They are past saving and have no interest in learning the truth because they have convinced themselves that they already know the truth! I'm there posting simply to show others that may be reading those posts that there is another side of the argument other than the ones offered by the paranoid and uneducated. There is no logic whatsoever to their arguments, only accusations and wild scenarios. I, as well as you and others, have asked each of them more than once to offer up proof of a hoax. It was met with nothing more than name calling, answer dodging and topic switching! Even so, I'm not yet convinced that every single person reading those posts is as clueless and brainless as the Moon Hoax Get Along Gang. I'm certain there are times when Stelios and others from his side of the aisle say to themselves, "Crap.. What do we do now?" Ask yourself this... why is it they tried (and succeeded) in getting nearly every moon landing thread ranted? If you were making yourself out to be a Buffoon as much as any of them, would you want others to see it? Would it be in your best interest to make it as difficult as possible? Gort just tried starting a NASA thread where he asked everyone to, " ... stand up or sit in NASA's lap!" Both Dreamweaver and I called him out on his opening statement. One of usual suspects, Redman, popped in and started calling Truegroup and I a bunch of foul names. The thread was quickly ranted! Geeeeee.... now why would he want to do that??

My goal was never to "convince" them of anything, but to demonstrate to other readers that "truth" isn't what they think it is. The general population at that forum call themselves "truthseekers" but have zero ability to discern truth from flat-out lies. I tried teaching a bit of critical thinking, and honestly I think some of the things I said made an impact -- the counterarguments have descended to denialistic fear/threat response posting almost exclusively.
I was starting to be very tempted to put people on "ignore," a function I deplore. I realized I would have to put them ALL on Ignore, so I took the next best option, a one-step process of emotionally distancing myself from the idiotic mantra chanting "dude, they didn't go - dude they didn't go." I've kept reading the unranted threads, but not being able to post lowers my give-a-darn to a manageable level.
I'm very impressed with MovingFinger's photo/video/weather analysis. He's beating a drum I beat many times myself there, that the body of evidence consists of a massive amount of internally and externally consistent data. Notice that the only response to his posts is to make up image manipulation capabilities by NASA that would reasonably fall under the category "magic."
As for redman, I've never read a post from him that doesn't include angry profanity. If I ever go back to DIF putting him on ignore will be one of my first actions, even before choosing an avatar.

My admiration to all who do battle at DIF. I actually think that it achieves something in that the HB's have been thoroughly debunked and reduced to name calling. The fact that don't have a platform to spew their uniformed gibberish unchallenged is no bad thing. To give the uninitiated a clue to the sheer bone headedness of some of the protagonists here are a couple of examples of what Apollo Gnomon and others have to contend with; Here Kliom observes the moon and low tide at the same time and concludes that the moon does not affect the tides. The notion that his understanding is less than complete is never entertained, he totally blanks Moving Fingers attempt to enlighten him and decides this is another example of being lied to. An illuminating insight into the HB mindset. forum.davidicke.com/showthread.php?t=155984And here IanW dispenses with Archimedes and decides that surface tension floated the Titanic. forum.davidicke.com/showthread.php?t=159623

Things too quiet around here? Someone couldn't resist poking them with a stick forum.davidicke.com/showthread.php?t=155984You'll regret it. DIF makes the HBs here seem like Newton. * yet again edited for spelling....

Things too quiet around here? Someone couldn't resist poking them with a stick That seems to be one of the biggest hurdles. How does one debate issues of science when the other party has less knowledge in the subject than the average muskrat? "The moon is was in the sky during low tide! I've been lied to!!!" Dear lord!! If I ever get that paranoid and dense, I hope someone pumps a 9mm slug into my cranium and puts me out of my misery.
