Don't quite know where this thread should belong, so I thought I'd put it here. Lunar Orbit, move it if appropriate.
I was reminded recently of a quite different space novel I bought and read recently - Jed Mercurio's "Ascent". It's the story of a Soviet boy, orphaned by the Second World War, who goes on to become a brilliant pilot in the Korean War, and later a cosmonaut. The final section describes a space mission we haven't previously heard of, with a startling climax.
Not the best novel I've read, with some fairly unoriginal bits, but certainly recommended.
