This is related to something I was doing at another board, but the attachment exceeds the size limit there I recently learned how to create animated PDFs. Recent versions of Adobe products seem to show the animations; other PDF viewers may show a still image instead. I'd appreciate any reports of whether you can see the animation or not, and what software you are using. The scenario is, some light detectors (with clocks) have been placed in a circle, and a light flashed at the centre of the circle. The blue shows the positions of the detectors, and the red shows the light expanding out from the point of origin in a circle. The two illustrations show the perspective of a stationary (relative to the detectors) observer, and a moving (also relative to the detectors) observer. From the perspective of the moving observer, the detectors are (of course) moving, but also there is distance dilation in the direction of the movement. It is all very primitive, as I get better at this, I want to add clocks around the blue circles. It's all in the attachment. Enjoy. Attachments:

Wow, such a lot of information. Many thanks for your collective efforts, it is much more than I expected.
The PDF viewer that comes with TeXLive, whatever it is, shows a static image, which is annoying, because that is what I use to create it.
As my skill grows with the software that creates the images (they are done one frame at a time), I will attempt to add clocks around the blue circle, and show all the length/time dilation effects that occur. But I am not there yet.
Again, thanks for all the help, it looks like I came to the right place!
