I'm actually an accursed American, I'm afraid. I haven't met many Americans, but the ones I have met seem to be normal people like everyone else. I've only been to Buffalo to see hockey games. For some reason the Scots and Irish I've met were the easiest to get along with. I remember being quite drunk once at a party playing 301 darts. One guy was from Scotland and we were instant friends. I was at 85 and shot 5 two double 20;s to win the game. He kept calling me 'the Wizard' after that. He was homesick because his true love was back home in Scotland. I kept telling him to go home, and two months later he did. By the end of the evening I had a respectable Scottish accent. Hurray for St. Andrews Ale! (Also Guinness, Bodingtons, Double Diamond, Newcastle, Kilkenny, Cafferys etc.)

The Netherlands. It's one country, seriously. Do you get upset when we ignorant Americans refer to it as just Holland? If I try to tell people I lived in the Netherlands for a couple years they usually say "where's that?" If I say I lived in Holland then they have some vague idea that it's in Europe and don't generally need more clarification (although I generally wouldn't trust them to find it on a map).

No, I don't mind. Not at all. Although, Holland's technically an outdated name for a part of the Netherlands. But, I live in that part so I wouldn't care either way.
