as for Area 51, I heard that there is a spot that resembles a lot a moon landing site, and that NASA said it created it after filming the moon or something. Anyone has a link to it? thnx

There is a small area they used for fly overs and crater regonition, not sure if there is a link available or not, I haven't found one when I have checked previously, but might have been using the wrong search parameters.

Why does every conspiracy theory have to include Area 51? The artificial crater field created for astronaut training was at Cinder Lake in Arizona.

I heard it resembles some Apollo 11 scene down to the single crater. Is this true? and about what photos are they speaking that can be compared to what photos here?

lionking, wouldn't it be more productive to ask these questions of those who are making this claim? If someone else says there's a location in the desert which is "identical" to a particular Apollo landing site, isn't it up to them to provide the photographic evidence? It's not up to us to track down evidence for someone else's claim.

I asked them and they said that they saw it on BBC. I think it was something like a station in the Nevada desert, but I don't know exactly what part and what are the Apollo 11 photos the program was comparing to, so I guessed that maybe you saw the video since it is discussed as a proof of a hoax

"On pictures taken by a Russian spy satellite of Groom Lake Military Base (AREA51), you can clearly see a section of the desert which is totally clear of any plants. This area of land has craters on it, and it looks exactly like the surface of the moon. On closer inspection, one of the craters is identical to a crater supposedly seen by the crew of the Apollo 12 mission from their LM as it landed. The picture also shows hangers which look similar to the kind of buildings you would find at Hollywood, the whole set up looks like a movie studio. "
Maybe this is it.

It's part of the long debunked Fox Special

Did they compare the two photos on FOX? i.e the photo of the desert and the photo of the moon?

The artificial crater field created for astronaut training was at Cinder Lake in Arizona.Shiny! I'll be in Flagstaff later this week. I'll definitely check it out. Meanwhile, I think I found it on TerraServer. The cratered area looks to be over 300 meters across, which makes for a nice, big training area. I heard it resembles some Apollo 11 scene down to the single crater. Is this true? Not a chance. Apollo 11 landed ~5km off-target. Even if it had been modeled on a specific area, it would not have matched any of the other areas explored. The idea of this training area was to get the astronauts used to walking, driving and setting up equipment in that general type of terrain.

"I heard"...You're the one proposing this theory, it's up to you to provide the evidence. There are areas in the artillery impact area at Ft. Sill OK USA that sort of look lunar...with a fair bit of imagination (and they certainly didn't shoot anything there, too dangerous with decades of unexploded artillery shells lurking about)."Looks like" is hardly evidence of anything.
