This quote was posted on another board.
Does anybody know the context? What exactly was he referring to?

First I saw that quote. Never heard of it before (Ralph Rene made a similar claim, though).
All that I know is that it's another example of lack of research on the originator's part.

It has been brought up a lot lately on GLP. I'm sure it is being taken out of context but I'm not sure what the context is. It seems like I've heard it before though. I'll bet JayUtah would know what's up with it.

Frenat
I'd demand a source of this info, rather than saying it was from an interview. When I googled Balogh's name with the Shuttle, I found he made a number of comments suggesting the Shuttle program was in trouble, but nothing worse than that.
When I Googled Balogh and Muir together, I only got the reference above.
I'm not sure who Eddie Muir is, but perhaps someone from the UK could confirm that someone by that name works at the Beeb.

I can't recall if it was from this board or the old BABB. I remember the search for Eddie Muir. IIRC, it was prior to 2005. [edited to add] 500th post! Shiny!

Yeah, stargazer brought this one up near the end of his run. I remember that his final, profane meltdown came shortly after I read up on it and pointed out that Prof. Balogh accepted the reality and success of Apollo and was pointing out the need for adequate political and financial support to accomplish further exploration.

So any source for this then? The only place I can find it is on Apolloscam and GLP which makes me even more sure it is taken out of context. ;D

I believe the BBC guys name is actually Eddie Mair. He used to do a great lunchtime news show on FiveLive, and now presents PM on Radio 4.

A search of the BBC site showed that the Prof. may be at Imperial College (whatever that is). A google of "Imperial College Balogh" gave: www.sp.ph.ic.ac.uk/~balogh/ ...looks like him. Next step would be to email him and ask for the full context of the quote, but I wouldn't do that two days before Christmas. It may be distressing for him to see himself quoted in places like: www.geocities.com/apollofeedback/. (edit: spelling)
