Hey, I was watching that movie last Saturday night. I said to my wife, "Hey, this is really weird, there's this sixties movie on with William Shatner, and he's speaking Italian!". Hey, it sounded like Italian...

On this page: www.clavius.org/white-test.htmlThe "now" in red should read "know" Mr. GOLDSMITH: Mr. White, I realize you are not a scientist. Do you now whether scientists consider the use of transparency overlays to be a good way of detecting differences between soft edged images?

Why did NASA have to fake Apollo? You mean which facet(s) was(were) technically unfeasible? I don't know. I would have to say that if you don't know the answer to that question you have absolutely no right to cast doubt on the reality or the Apollo Missions!

... the USSR, the USA and the UK were allies in World War Two, because they had a common interest - defeating Germany. Once Germany was defeated, the former allies' interests diverged, leading to the Cold War. Often overlooked is that Nazi Germany and the USSR signed a non-aggression pact in 1939, and the USSR also invaded and carved-up Poland in September of that year. I seem to recall an anecdote from a few decades back, when Field Marshall Montgomery (retired) was accosted at a party by a Soviet diplomat who tried to remind him of how the Soviet Union was attacked by the Germans in 1941. "Monty" calmly replied, "Well, they hit us pretty hard too, during The Blitz, but of course, that was in 1940, when you were still allied with the Nazis." Good story. BTW CZ, is that you in your avatar?

Ah, my error. Viking affair reference as in the Normans were descended from them. Can't seem to get around the idea it was the French proper Actually, my understanding is that a lot of the Normans were actually Brittons, or Bretons, or from Brittany. A lot of moving around 1500 years ago. But to get an idea of how "French proper" it was, look at some of the conflicts of the next few hundred years! The Normans were Bretons? I don't think so... The Bretons were a Celtic people who settled in Brittany around the fifth century. Regarding the Normans - or Vikings that settled in France... Wherever the Vikings went, they tending to lose their identity. They went to Russia. They became Russian. (the name Russia actually comes from the Vikings). They went to Ireland and became Irish... (Unlike the Irish who seem to make everyone Irish around them. ;D) They went to Scotland and became Scottish. (Robert the Bruce was of Norman ancestry). Anyway, after the Normans ("Northmen") settled in France, they became French.

Just in case you were misled by the forum's title "Apollohoax" - there is a history behind this, but suffice to say most members here firmly believe that the Space Mission happened as commonly accepted. That is, we don't deny NASA's achievements - we believe man landed on the moon etc. Now there are presently one or two members here that believe otherwise. Maybe you'll get some answers from them. My main question to any HB continues to be "At what point were the missions faked? Mercury? Gemini? One of the Apollo missions? " I've never been able to get an answer to that one.

Wow, that's quite a bit of damage! Its good to hear nobody was killed.
I googled "New Zealand Earthquake Relief" to see how many countries might be contributing.... almost all the responses were for New Zealand giving relief to other nations - I hope that what goes around, comes around and that New Zealand gets some help too.

Well what'dya know... Seems like I actually did something right for a change! ;D Even the moon was in almost the same place. Hopefully, you can see the relative size of the moon in the sky. (And no, I was not aware of the other diagram's existence I swear. )

I would appear that the astronaut taking the pictures moved down a bit and to the left?

Remember, fireballs - we're not measuring the angle or where the moon is in the sky - we're measuring its size. A very rough way to see how big one degree of the sky is - hold up you hand at arms length and stick up your little finger. Its width would be about 1 degree. Look at it like this - from directly overhead to the horizon is 90 0. So, the width of the moon is 1/180 of that. It moves across the sky at about 15 0 per hour. Let's say, you were facing North... The moon seems to be bigger than that when you look at it, doesn't it? But this is the size it would be when looking at the whole sky from the eastern horizon to the western horizon. I think the diagram illustrates just how small the Moon actually is in the sky. You need accurate instruments to send and receive signals to and from the moon. Could you (or someone) expand on this some more? I think I generally understand what you're saying, but I need some clarification. Specifically: "So, the width of the moon is 1/180 of that. It moves across the sky at about 15 0 per hour." This is the only part I'm lost on. Otherwise it all make sense Maybe this would be clearer:

"Weird or What" hosted by William Shatner debuts tonight at 10:00 in Canada on the History Channel. I think it might be on the Discovery channel in the U.S.
Variety” says: “Weird or What” will examine and analyze some of the weirdest unsolved cases around the world — ranging from paranormal phenomena, medical oddities and bizarre natural disasters.” Shatner said the show would present science in a “light-hearted, jaunty way.”

Looks like they are underway at last. Jack White has refused to participate in the debate (which says a lot about him) but he is happily hijacking other threads. educationforum.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=16500The mods over there seem to just let him trample about with impunity. Some "Education" forum. Why do HB's like Jack White keep harping on about the appearance of the LM as some sort of proof it was a hoax? Seriously if I was faking the moon landings I'd have made the LM a lot sleeker looking, maybe something from the Gerry Anderson school of spacecraft design... Thats what I was thinking too. But, in the end, to put everything together that actually works and performs you can afford "looks" getting in the way.
