Depends whether capability or chronology is the priority, I suppose ;D

Posts | Rank | 0 | Mercury | 25 | Venus | 50 | Earth | 100 | Mars | 500 | Jupiter | 800 | Saturn | 1000 | Neptune | 1500 | Uranus | 2500 | Pluto | 5000 | Leaving the Solar System | 10000 | The Vega System |
. Why is Neptune reached before Uranus?

Doh. I always get the order of those two mixed up. I guess that means people will only have the rank of "Uranus" for 500 posts instead of 1000.

For a second there I thought "uh oh, looks like Data Cable has lost his mind" and then I got it. It's late.

The new member ranks for the forum are: Posts | Rank | 0 | Mercury | 25 | Venus | 50 | Earth | 100 | Mars | 500 | Jupiter | 800 | Saturn | 1000 | Neptune | 1500 | Uranus | 2500 | Pluto | 5000 | Leaving the Solar System | 10000 | The Vega System |
More ranks can be added as needed (it might not take some members long to reach 10,000 posts ). I'm not sure this table makes sense when I really look at it. it goes. 25 25 50 400 300 200 500 1000 2500 5000 The middle of that seems rather warped with the 400, 300, 200

I assume it's in some way related to the distances the planets are from the Sun. Hence the big gap from Mars to Jupiter.

I assume it's in some way related to the distances the planets are from the Sun. Hence the big gap from Mars to Jupiter. Yeah... that's the reason... yup. I was going to make the number of posts needed to go up a level double every time but it got to the point where it would be next to impossible to reach them. But you're right, it doesn't make much sense the way it is.

I'd probably go with 1,000 for Saturn. It seems that reaching the 1,000 post level should result in an advance in rank.

Sounds good too me... consider it changed.
Edit: I updated the ranks to what PhantomWolf and Bob B. suggested with two minor differences: Earth is 100 posts and Mars is 250.

Geez, I'm stuck on Jupiter for over 400 more posts . How 'bout adding 4 of it's moons at 100 post increments? Europa, Io, Callisto and Ganymede.- smaller to larger. So, you're Jupiter from 500 - 599, Europa from 600 - 699, Io from 700 - 799, Callisto from 800 - 899, and Ganymede from 900 - 999. Then it's Saturn from 1000 - 1100, and so on with Dione, Iapetus, Rhea and Titan. And then maybe Uranus' four largest moons at 200 post increments, etc,? Just thought I'd put my two cents in for fun....

Just don't mention probes... "To painfully go where many probes have gone before" That makes me think about brown mouse jokes, ouch!
