And by that I mean, did he have a sense of humour? If I was at that famous wedding sitting beside him - could I tell him a joke? would he laugh, and tell me one back? What do you think?
I just want a thread on the lighter side here - I'm not concerned whether he lived, or was God or anything like that. What I'm interested in is personal impressions of the man that would make you smile. Thats all...no controversy...let's have fun.

Yeah, I think he was. I think he was a good guest with a great sense of humour. I can't call up any quotes to prove my point right now, though--except for the great guest part, which we all know.

He did seem to love to use exaggeration for rhetorical effect, and at least one movie of the biblical story of his life interpreted this as being humorously intended as well. Such as the famous 'plank in your eye, speck in his eye' speech.

"Hey, man... Jesus is here. Somebody get a couple more vats of water, quick!"
I got nothing -- except to say that sometimes he seems like he could have a sense of humor in scripture and sometimes he doesn't.

Well remember, the writers of the Bible thought of this man as their deity. They probably tried to underplay some of his more human qualities.

I'm quite sure he had one, just as I am sure that Alexander the Great and Julius Ceaser had them. I wouldn't be surprised if his messages had jokes, and his jokes has messages. We are shown numerous times where he is shown to have human emotions, sadness, compassion, love, anger, why would he not have had humour?

When Nathaniel was lead to Jesus by the other soon-to-be apostles, Jesus acted as if he knew him and said he had seen him under a fig tree. Nathaniel immdediately proclaimed he was a prophet, and Jesus basically says "You believe I'm the Son of God just because I said I saw you under a fig tree? Just wait until you see what's coming next."
I find that one at least mildly amusing.
Oh, and I'm back from vacation. Hi all.
