ah HA!!! The XIII guys were whistle blowing, they knew Kranz et al were trying to kill them because they could see stars out there, but through their own ingenuity, they survived the evil plot, and stuck that frog logo on the chopper as a hint! They knew about the frog!!! See?? It's all so clear, and makes perfect sense...it all comes together now! (Maybe it would be more convincing if I bolded, capitalized, enlarged and colored my text randomly??) (silly mode off) I mean really...a FROG??? Doesn't this argument seem a bit childish, feelfree222?

feelfree222, Why does the "frog" move and bounce in perfect synchronization with the astronaut? You are right.... After observing the sequence many times and taking into account the perfect synchronization i agree with Jay' s explanation and the general consensus... that this is a catadioptric effect produced in the television lens from the hot spot on Buzz Aldrin's visor. Case closed to me. Thanks ! Do you even know what a "catadioptric effect" is? If so, can you explain it?

I imagine that must be an effect caused by a reflexion in the internal lens of the camera caused by a bright light source like the hot spot on Buzz Aldrin's visor. Correct me if I am wrong.

The question "what was a frog doing there in the first place?" may never be answered.

I have a catadioptric telescope (Schmitt-Cassegrain). The essential feature is a curved mirror that does much of the focusing, in place of a lens. Sound familiar in this context?

There is a little more to it than that. I was really testing to see if you accepted what Jay and others had said because you understood what they said, or if you were just parroting.

So you are accusing me of parroting because I accept than the whole thing is an effect caused by a reflexion in the internal lens of the camera ? Wow!

Ho !, I see. I am sorry to have used your post verbatim. Edited to add than If you read the context of my post I only wanted to include that part of your post to my thanks ,that is why I have put your verbatim in italics.

Feelfree222, I have conclusively proven that this is a catadioptric effect produced in the television lens from the hot spot on Buzz Aldrin's visor. It is not a frog. And while we're bragging, I was the first Pro-Apollo Nutter in the world to notice the solution to Una Ronald's "Coke bottle" when watching a video tape of the movie Apollo 11 on 12 August 2001. I wasn't connected to the internet at the time, so after getting connected and finding that nobody seemed to have solved it, it was nearly a year later that I mentioned it to Jay in the attachment to an email on Thursday 25 July 2002 10:32am: Jay mentioned the email here in a post at the Bad Astronomy Bulletin Board, and eventually came up with his excellent analysis at Clavius.

Those of us that grew up watching "The Clangers" have long been aware that there are froglets on the moon. [/ChildOfTheSixties]
