Well, I have been having fun searching out more moon landing hoax sites. Why is it that the vast majority of hoax sites and videos I come across all have speakers and narrators who have strong British accents? It it because there is some sort of "conspiracy" mental gene defect which is pervasive amongst those of Anglo-Saxon descent? Seriously, I really am trying to ask a serious question here.

Because Americans believe anything said with a British accent.

Unlike some Robin Hoods...
But seriously I have know idea, maybe copycatting? There's certainly no lack of American conspiracy apologists.

Consider this; perhaps people in the USA are more inclined to believe people with foreign accents. just ask anyone who goes to the USA with a French accent - pickup magnet? American's love the foreign accent, and will believe what those have to say. Maybe because their own government, with proper USA accents have been lying to them for years. Food for thought.

It's certainly not because more Brits believe in the hoax, neither is it a "jealousy" thing (as I've seen suggested somewhere).

It's because Brits don't understand how the laws of physics here in North America work differently than on their protected little island.
[edit: minor grammatical change]

It's quite possible that what some people hear as "British" is just 'English' or European. I can't count the number of times my Australian accent has been thought of as British.

Also you need to be clearer by what you mean by a British accent? There's a huge difference between the home counties, Birmingham, and Glasgow for example. When the Scottish comedy show Rab C Nesbitt was shown in England they considered adding subtitles because of the strong Glaswegian accents! I think what you mean is the BBC/received pronunciation version, which given that its associated with BBC newsreaders and those who have received an Oxbridge education tends to make one sound more erudite and knowledgeable.

From my time living in Europe, I used to be able to distinguish between a New Zealand and Australian accent. After all there were so many Aussies and Kiwis traveling around Europe, that it seemed their countries must be deserted. Alas, after many years my ear is not as well attuned and I find the accents to be too much alike. Sometimes today I do sometimes confuse some British accents with Australian if not paying attention. I try to keep up to snuff by watching BBC America and listening to Dr. Karl podcasts.

I have no problem distinguishing various British Isles accents from Australian or Kiwi accents. Yet I guess that I am one of the few Americans who doesn't place any more trust in what a person says simply because they speak with a foreign accent.

Aussies have more nasal whine that Kiwis, but I still get asked if I'm an Aussie when I'm in the US. I should be grateful though, more Americans do actually know where New Zealand is these days.

Maybe MI17 is behind the whole Apollo hoax problem.
