You know, I have seen snow. Twice, for a couple of hours. The last time was over 20 years ago.

You know, I have seen snow. Twice, for a couple of hours. The last time was over 20 years ago. Isn't there a Winter season in Australia whereby snow falls all the time ? or is snow a rare occasion there?

You know, I have seen snow. Twice, for a couple of hours. The last time was over 20 years ago. You know, I've seen snow for the last four days. Friday I got turned into a snowman by walking home in it. When I arrived I was white all down my front (including the lenses of my glasses!) and my hair was frozen! Now we have the joy of a load of snow that has half-thawed and refrozen into an attractive looking but treacherous ice layer....

You get snow in winter in a couple of places south of where I am, about 6 or 8 hours drive. There are snowfields there to go skiing. That's where I saw snow. But only a tiny proportion of Australia ever experience snow.

Sometimes I complain about how much I hate snow, but I think I'll miss it when it stops coming.

Here in Houston we were surprised by a light dusting earlier this month. Not only is snow rare here, but had not occurred so early in the year since anyone can remember. The places it did accumulate were clear as soon as the sun hit them the next morning. I like visiting places that have snow but prefer to live in a place I am able to hike and kayak in the winter.

Speaking of which, did you see the Top Gear episode last night on BBC America? They drove a Toyota truck to the magnetic north pole just to show that even in the middle of summer, it was it was possible to do without finding navigable waters.

Snowflakes do have nice designs. I have some gold snowflake-shaped earrings that I like to wear at this time of year. I got them as a Christmas gift a long time ago. Speaking of snow, a few years ago one of my sisters was working as a nurse in Labrador during the winter and Labrador gets a huge amount of snow. She met a doctor from Egypt who was new to Canada and taught him how to make a snowman, and she said he really enjoyed it.
