While reading up on Skylab, I started to think about the Saturn 1b rescue rocket and the team of Brand/Lind who were designated as the rescue crew.
HBs like to point out that Apollo 13 was a publicity stunt designed to get people interested in the lunar missions. But, the thought I had was, at the point of Skylab where the future of manned spaceflight was uncertain for the next 5 years at least (ASTP not included), why wouldn't an agency allegedly so rampant with lies and fakery "invent" an emergency and launch the rescue? That would have gotten the news desk at KSC flooded with reporters and generated HUGE media interest.

Please don't bring logic into HB discussions.
Thank you.

Well if you go down that route, why wouldn't they have said, "Hey that is a face on Mars!" Some years later when the funding situation was even more desperate.
