So a few weeks ago some YouTuber found airbrush marks in a picture of two of Saturn's moons, taken by the Cassini orbiter. This picture was featured on the Astronomy Picture of the Day website about six months ago. The YouTuber suggested that it was evidence of NASA photoshopping images to cover up something. Some major news sources got wind of the story and decided to talk about it. The story behind the photoshopping was explained, but a lot of conspiracy theorists still weren't convinced. So, I went the extra mile and re-composited the image to see what was going on. I wrote a post about it on my blog, explaining a bit of how Cassini takes its images, how the images can be 'converted' to colour images, and why the airbrushing has been done. poopcake.tumblr.com/post/1337328670/nasas-saturn-moons-coverup-uncoveredHope you guys like it.

Good stuff. Scary in a way, stuff happens, it is designed and built by methods known. The method of transmission and capture is known and reasons for such a method are sound and provable yet some one on the web can start an avalanche of ineptitude you would think it was contagious by looking at it.

I love how even when NASA gives an explanation, they choose to believe something else.

Inconceivable,
Do you understand the difference between "being wrong" and "lying"?
If NASA ever said there was no water on the Moon it was because the tests they had performed did not detect any, and it was... inconceivable... that water could exist in such an environment. They were not lying, they were simply wrong.

REMEMBER WHEN THEY USED TO SAY THERE WAS NO WATER ON THE MOON!! Actually I don't. Care to provide a source for this claim? I do remember when they said that there was little water on the moon, and there still is. I also remember when they said that the rocks had been formed without the presence of water, and that hasn't changed, but I don't recall any actual scientist ever declaring that there was no water at all on the moon. In fact even during Apollo they picked up a substantial amount of water vapour when one of the experiements, something that lead them to believe that cometary impacts could have left water deposits on the moon and that smashing a probe into certain craters might reveal ice locked away. So no, I don't recall claims that there was no water on the moon.

I'm also not sure how "no water on the Moon" relates to this thread.

Re water on the moon. I think it was likely to be found given the nature of our formation (unsure of quantity though and the formation of the moon is in theory slightly different as I understand it) but do certain people think it is sloshing around?

What could they be hiding? We already know that Mimas is really the Death Star.

REMEMBER WHEN THEY USED TO SAY THERE WAS NO WATER ON THE MOON!! Do you ever intend to become a real member of this board by making a positive contribution? Real member start conversations by making a point and telling others why they think it is important. So what do you think is important about this?
