For those who are interested in furthering your education on clear thinking, Carnegie Mellon University if offering a free online course, Causal and Statistical Reasoning. It is a non-instructional subset of the course offered to students The course description,

Does excessive exposure to violent video games cause violent behavior? Does increased gun availability cause more crime or less? This course examines the nature of causal claims and the statistical sorts of evidence used to support them.

While interested, I haven't fully investigated to see if I have time for a online course, but I can think of an array of current and former posters that would benefit greatly from taking the class.
