LotR: Just a tip -- Google. Use it wisely. Believe me, it can answer so many more questions than we can. Outside of the moon landings of course.

lonewulf: A/S/L?!!!!111 LordOfTheRings: what is A/S/L?!!!!111?? lonewulf: It's the stereotypical question of a horny young boy who just logged onto AOL. LordOfTheRings: what is AOL? AOL is a dialup ISP. (hoping we can keep this going for a while) Why you want to keep it up? anyhow, it is really bad that if any girl says she is a girl ppl would try to do such things. I thought I should say my gender bcz you all think I am a boy bcz of my name (lordofrings and not queen or something). I thought this is not transparent with you, that's all.

Personally, I don't care if you're a man or a woman. Gender means nothing to me, besides one being more aesthetically pleasing than another.

Why you want to keep it up? I just thought it was funny. Not because of gender, but because someone used an acronym and was asked for the definition. Then that person gave a definition of the first acronym and it contained a second acronym. I just thought it was funny. If anything, I'm making fun of lonewulf, not you. I'm not sure what we're talking about.

She's talking about the lonely guys out there that latch onto women on chatrooms and in games. By the way, I advise not to make fun of me. You don't want to make me angry, Mr. Tofu. Witness my angry face.

She's talking about the lonely guys out there that latch onto women on chatrooms and in games. latch onto *alleged* women. See, it works for men who claim to be women too. Whenever I play an online game like Diablo or World of Warcraft, I always play as a girl. I'm not sure why she thinks it's a bad thing. It's amazing how much stuff people will just give you when they think you're a chick! The last time I played Diablo, which was several years ago, as soon as I created my character people started giving me weapons and armor. I said, "uh my character can't use this stuff because she's too low level." One guy left the server, went and got some amulets for me that would increase my stats, then came back and gave them to me. Wtf? Anyway, I think it's great. I wish I had been born a woman. Then I could do that sort of thing in real life.

Actually, IRL, being a woman isn't that great a thing outside of the online realm. In most of the industrialized countries, women are getting more and more Rights, but not in all things. Even today, women get paid 70% as men, on average, within the US.
Also, chances of getting a stalker and being raped are far higher for women than for men.
The online world is SO much different than the real world.

Can I please ask once again if Bart Sibrel accused Buzz Aldrin of murder?

Question was answered, Margamatix. And I really don't care one way or the other. Sibrel still walked right up to an American hero, and called him a liar and a thief to his face. Yet you're to expect that no one, NO ONE would be angry in that position?

Even today, women get paid 70% as men, on average, within the US. I love a good threadjack, so I think I'll take issue with that. I did google it just now and I found references to studies showing that on average men make 70% more than women. But what I couldn't find was the underlying data so that I could judge for myself if there was any bias. See, here is what I suspect has been done: 10 men in the survey, each making $1. The average income is $1. 10 women in the survey. Seven of them make $1. Three of them are stay at home mothers, making essentially $0. The average income therefore is 70 cents. Omfg! Men make 70% more than women!!111 I'm digging through the US Census website now because what I want to find is what the difference in income is between unmarried men and unmarried women with no kids. To me that seems like an apples to apples comparison. If that difference is statistically significant, then it's definitely due to sexism.

My figure is from my Sociology textbook. I'm pretty sure that the statistics in that textbook; especially since it was written by a VERY reputable sociologist; are trustworthy.
