Okay, I'm tired of all of this talk about how evil the BAUT forums are. Hi Lonewulf, I've seen your posts here and at BAUT, and I think you could benefit by not letting these things bother you so much. BAUT does have a policy by which posters are required to back up their claims by evidence, and the moderators are the judges of what constitutes evidence. Some boards let anyone post any rubbish s/he wants; if someone prefers that type of board to BAUT, or agrees in principle with the BAUT approach but feels the moderators there are doing a poor job, what's the problem? I suspect that the decision by some posters to avoid BAUT makes both your life and theirs better ;D I would also mention that you refer specifically to Jason; there is a BAUT user with that username, but I believe you meant to refer to someone with a username that began with Jason but also had a surname. And Kiwi, exactly. Except that I was suspended temporarily, Moon Man's ban was more or less permanent. Moon Man was banned "permanently" from BAUT, but then unbanned when a number of posters asked that he be allowed back. A few days later, he was banned again, this one looks like it really is permanent.

Perhaps I should tell my homosexual friend that he's a murderer and a molestor waiting to happen. Let's see what he thinks of that kinda accusation. Well if he really is, you might not be able to share his reaction with us...

Hey Hoosier, are you saying that Catholics aren't 'True Christians'? I bet they would argue with that. People do the same thing in politics. They compare an idealized, theoretical, never-observed-in-practice ideology against its real-world competitors, complete with blemishes. If you want to advocate communism, just disown Stalin et. al., who were obviously not real communists. If you want to advocate capitalism, just disown the rather corrupt crony forms found in many countries. It makes about as much sense to do this in politics as it does in religion...

Actually the adverts change from topic to topic based on the content. At the top of this one, ALL adverts concern anger management (or anger something...) because you so titled the topic. My question is this: Which topic were you cruisin when you noticed the adverts had picked up on a need for anger management?? Arg, I got behind in my forum-cruising, and now I can't remember which it was. Sorry...

I was cruising this site, and noticed that, in the Google strip at the top, two of the three adverts were about anger management. I guess that says something ;D

I always pass people on the right, and occasionally on the left if they drive slow in the right-hand lane where there's two lanes. Now that is something that annoys me. People that head into the right-hand lane at a passing lane and then tootle along at about 90 so that they creep past the truck or whatever and take the entire passing lane to do it. And it's worse when it's a truck that does it. Grrrrr. (By the way if you haven't figured it out, we drive on the left. ) I'm with you, PhantomWolf, except that where I live we drive on the right. It is extremely rare for me to be passed on the right, and when it does happen, I take it as a signal that I'm doing something wrong (or perhaps in New Zealand ...

Depends - for X11 you do it in xmodmap, for console it's /etc/console-tools/remap (at least on Debian). OK, I will give it a try. Thanks. I am using this flavor of Linux...

Do we live in the same area? No, but I'm a few km SW of New York, so it is not so far... OK, another thing I have to figure out now. Would this be the /etc/inputrc file, or something different? I'm new at this...

People who stop their vehicles on a narrow street to talk to their pedestrian friends, then begin to drive again (without looking, of course) precisely at the moment I am passing them...
Why can I get my computer's attention using any combination of ctrl+alt+del under Windows, but I need to use the left-hand ctrl and alt keys under Linux?

In Texas we have the Mockingbird. Does pretty much the same thing, but it is much more agressive with the swooping. In the late spring - early summer, I'd say that I have been swooped at least 20 times in a week. All directions of attacks are possible. Mockingbirds, at least the ones near me, especially dislike cats. Dogs do not seem to be a problem. We have mockingbirds here also, about 1,500 km to the northeast, but I haven't noticed that they do that here ;D

Well, now that we’re well into October, we’re past most of the magpie swooping season here in Australia. Magpies in Australia aren’t that much like their British namesakes (are there magpies in America?), except that they’re black and white birds. There are two species of magpies in the western US. At least one of them is found in Canada and probably in Mexico also; I'm not sure how far south they get. They don't much resemble the Australian magpies; from the scientific names, it looks like they are not only considered different species, but also different genera. But that information is from two different references published at two different times, so it is also possible that the taxonomy has been revised over time...

Just in case anyone's interested in the new guy's name... Hi Lonewulf, I am only slightly less new than you here. My name at BAUT is Montebianco. No particular reason, I just picked it, it doesn't make sense. Rather like Khrushchev's Other Shoe ;D
