Things are a tidbit sour at the moment with lots of people complaining about the mods and the mods getting annoyed with that though still actually rather professionally considering. Lots of people? They are single figures and at least two of them only ever seem to post in complaint threads. But I will say no more here .It's turning into a Hijack.

It's too quiet here, and there are few conversations about a lot of the off-topic things I like. That being said, there are a lot of posters I wish would just go away--and they made two of them mods. That's disconcerting to know.

It wasn't even considered aserious proposition by the time Apollo 11 touched down. Thomas Gold was a distinct minority, and NASA had already sent the Surveyor probes to determine if the surface could support a landing craft maing a soft, rocket-supported landing. They said it could, so they went ahead on the basis of their results. The reason for Gold's stubborn insistence that the surface would not support the craft despite the ample evidence to the contrary is a mystery, at least to me. I take it he did not continue to insist on this after the landings. If he had been right, I think the transcript of the radio communications would have to be edited before public release. How would they have 'edited' the communications picked up other than by NASA?

Cosmic Rays are the same partical radiation that we can produce on Earth, they just originate 'in space'. They dson't have any mystery poweres.

Your spray can will probably be using Butane as a propellant. Fine powder can cause 'flash fires' Flour Mills have been known to explode, they have lots of flash arrestors in their ductwork etc. I don't think there is a problem with Talc though it's pretty much an inert mineral.

Everone, I agree that there were abundant unmanned missions by both the US and the Russians, and I don't question that accurate measurements were made and reported regarding the flux levels of various types of radiation. Phantomwolf, by summarizing that other thread by "no conclusive data" I mean no hard, experimental data from deep space biology experiments. My question was about deep-space experiments with biological specimens of any kind, and there seems to be a consensus that aside from the Russian 1968 Zond probe, and the Apollo manned flights, there have been no other missions. Of course now that we've established that fact, what we do with it is entirely another question. What do you think is different about 'deep space' radiation? It's the same electromagnetic and partical radiation we have on Earth. We can send detetors to measure it.

As for testing Lunar Samples, a new 'pristine' sample isn't always neede, it depends what test you want to do and what has already been done to the sample.

Also weird how there are no pictures as 'The cameras are photographing other objetives' Like he couldn't point his 'blad' and press the shutter. I would think that an alien spaceship on the surface of the moon would be a bit more important than pictures of rocks.
