If Cernan said the engines were loud than possibly then the explosive bolts would have been heard also. We know that on the moon, the hammering of some of the rocks was picked up on the mics. So maybe the explosion of the bolts?

I was wondering why the explosive bolts, during seperation of the LEMN on ascent from the moon, weren't heard on the mics.

The Selene images don't show anything but terrain. Maybe if I could atleast see some lunar rover tracks.wei3.6

Did the VLT ever meet the expectations of finding anything on the moon? It is fascinating that they can detect a 4inch piece of debris closing in on the shuttle and Hubble at probably 5miles/second at an altitude of 340 miles, but they can't detect anything at the Apollo landing sites with satellites, Clementine, Smart1, Chandrayaan, Selene to name a few orbiting at probably 60 miles above the moon.

Why did they have to brainwash the Apollo astronouts after they returned to Earth?

update: Alcoa is laying off 13% of it's global work force. In the Quad Cities where Alcoa is manufacturing the Aluminum 2195 thinplate alloy for the Ares 1 and V5 launch vehicles they are laying off workers. Should we be concerned about making the 2020 goal?

I was just thinking about this lately and it doesn't make sense. They either are not allowed, or are scared to, or like you said don't care to waste their time. I'm not sure if I've ever read anything on any site from NASA employees. Is there anyone here that is NASA employee? I can understand people trying to keep their anonymity.

Are there any threads that have actual NASA employees discussing these hoaxes? Are they bound by some sort of confidentiality agreement? With all of the NASA employees out there one would think they would be all over this, with proof, etc. But all we have are self proclaimed experts and I will agree they are very intelligent, brite and forethcoming>3 112,.e4

The projected cost for the whole Constellation program is to be $217 Billion. Obama could put us all to work for NASA. Maybe this will equate into more jobs for the struggling economy.

Oops, spacecraft Orion. With it's ablative heat coating maybe layered like onion. Also. the trip to red planet is one-way trip? Do we really want to send people to die on another planet?

Will they cancel the program with the recession and the economy being so bad? The projected cost for this program of going to the moon and on to Jupiter is $217 BIllion dollars. Can we afford this? Will this provide jobs to help boost the economy?

Pete Conrad once said that when you are standing on the moon, the moon is so small that you can see it curving away from you. I suspect that is what is happening here.

In the painting Our World At My Fingertips, I wonder if that is an accurate representation of the size of the earth as seen from the moon. Sort of tieing in with another thread that was started. If an astronaut was standing on the moon looking back at the earth the earth should be a disk 2.5 times the size of the moon seen from earth. The paintings are wonderful. Would love to have one in my collection.
