Hey, as you may know I am researching a character for a script. I never saw this dude, please direct me. In short, Jack White is an incompetent that fancies himself a great photo analyst. He scours over Apollo photos looking for "anomalies" proving a hoax. The facepalm position is very common after just a couple minutes of reading his stuff.

Jack at age 12... Jack's Mother: Eat your dinner, Jack, or you'll starve. Jack: No I won't, I don't need food. Breathatarian!

I think if you wrote this guy into a movie script the director would ask you to tone it down because no one is that dumb in real life...

I think virtually everything he has ever said about Apollo is worthy of a nomination. I think virtually everything he has ever said about the JFK assassination, Apollo and contrails is worthy of a nomination. Is there anything else? And anything he's said about 9/11.

For God's sake, this old fool takes the cake.
I have a serious question for which I'd like a serious answer: Is there a single hoax believer in existence with an IQ over 100? I know that sounds harsh, but I'm asking in a completely sincere manner because I'm absolutely beginning to doubt it.

I don't know how intelligent they are, but I don't think I've debated one yet who truly had a good understanding of the physical sciences. They might have an high school understanding, but that's about as far as it goes. To bad for them the University of Google is not an accredited college.

I have a serious question for which I'd like a serious answer: Is there a single hoax believer in existence with an IQ over 100? Very hard to say about IQs at times, considering the limited experience we have with some HBs, but my own opinion is that while there are some obvious exceptions, by far most of them are poorly educated, some extremely so, and I don't mean necessarily in an academic sense or anything much beyond a bright 15- or 16-year-old's good, general education. Hell, I ended my formal education and left school at 15. I hated school, but being a knowledge-junkie, had to keep on learning. Attended a few evening classes but years later ended up teaching many times more than I attended. One of the most thrilling places for me to be is on the steep part of a learning curve, but I quickly get bored once it starts to flatten out. About half or more HBs seem to lack an enquiring and genuinely open mind, initiative, critical faculties, and observational skills, but I don't know whether that's related to IQ. I'm certainly interested in hearing other members' experiences and impressions about this subject. Perhaps it should have its own thread.

People who are incompetent at a task WILDLY overestimate their competence. That describes HBs to a T.

I know that sounds harsh, but I'm asking in a completely sincere manner because I'm absolutely beginning to doubt it. Quite possibly. Michael Shermer's book, Why People Believe Weird Things has a chapter, "Why Smart People Believe Weird Things". Turns out that if you're smart you can come up with all the convoluted reasons that HBs use to dismiss evidence that conflicts with their beliefs.

I've debated HBs that actually seem to be fairly intelligent, but the one consistent thing I see is that they are poorly educated, at least in the fields relating to Apollo. They commonly think they can take what knowledge they do have and extrapolate it into areas where they lack proper training. They are generally too stubborn to admit their ignorance when the extrapolation inevitably fails. That seems to be when the denial kicks in.

A far more entertaining woowoo is Joe Rogan. Maybe some combination of Rogan's outlandish stupidity with White's arrogant ineptitude would make for a more balanced character. Either one of them are far to real to be believable characters in a show.

I'm unfamiliar with Rogan. What is he infamous for?

Didn't he debate the Bad Astronomer about the Apollo Hoax a year or so ago?
