Why is the front of the lander leg lit up when the light source is behind it..? Why is the moon surface so bright in one spot..? 1. The foil is picking up and reflecting the brightly-lit lunar surface, the same as it does in many other photos, the same way that the shiny sides of most kitchen foils behave. 2. Considering that this is the same picture as in Reply No. 8, the answer should be fairly obvious: Someone has doctored this photo. Re 2. It's still a bit brighter in the other copy of the photo, and in other photos such as 5903. We've gone over this in another thread, but basically, that bit of the surface is brighter for two reasons: because it is lit by reflected light from the sunny side of the LM and because it was scoured by the rocket exhaust during landing, leaving it smoother and more reflective. I made a mistake in the first paragraph of Reply No. 35, but will give members a chance to figure out what it was before fessing up. Just made the print with his right foot, then stepped back? Sigh -- the older I get (now over 55) the better my forgettery gets. I forgot about the bootprint showing in AS11-40-5902 when posting Reply No. 35. I'd favour it coming from Buzz's left foot because in this and the next photo there are other prints visible closer to the tip of the landing probe, but we can't be certain either way. However, it seems that Buzz stepped backwards before this photo was taken. The bootprints in the bottom of the small crater in AS11-40-5903 and also AS11-40-5915 don't make it clear whether Buzz stepped backwards, sideways or forward (then turned 180-odd degress) before AS11-40-5903 was taken. However, the caption at the ALSJ points out the mound of soil in front of his right boot, indicating that he might be moving that foot forward, although in AS11-40-5915 that print seems distinct and none of his left bootprints are clear. To get a good view of this area (and to answer one of Moon Man's questions about light and dark soil) see all of the following photos and their captions: AS11-40-5858 AS11-40-5870 AS11-40-5902 AS11-40-5903 AS11-40-5915 I get all five onscreen at once using IrfanView, then it's a simple matter of clicking from one to another. In AS11-40-5902 there is a furrow on the left of and almost perpendicular to the shadow of the LM's leg, roughly halfway along. I originally thought that this might the handle of the contingency sampler which disappeared at one stage and appeared to get trampled into the ground (or may have got kicked under the LM), but the caption at the ALSJ says the furrow is from one of Neil's bulk sample scoops.

Why are there no shadows from the rocks I have circled in yellow..? Follow the footprints in the forefront and see if you can match two up..? Blow this picture up and follow the unburied cable to the right of the flag...Hahaha!

Blow up the flag and explain why there is a piece of the flag hanging off on the left side where the stripes are...hahaha!

Blow this picture up and follow the unburied cable to the right of the flag...Hahaha! That's a cable running to one of the experiments, though I don't recall which one. The cable is supposed to be there.

How is it possible for the inside leg of the astronaut to be lit up when the light is coming from the other direction, as evidenced by the astronauts shadow.? Why is the moon surface so brightly lit up to the right of the astronaut when it is not lit up in the near distance behind him..? Since when does the sun shine brighter in one spot and not another..? You can see one footprint in going horizontally in front of the astronaut. Where is the second footprint and why is there no footprint step to the right if the astronaut who made this print was walking..? Loook, he forgot his chest mounted camera...hahaha! What's up with only one footprint in front of the astronaugh..? Hahahaha!

Loook, he forgot his chest mounted camera...hahaha! Duh... the camera is being used by the person who took the picture and therefore will not be on the chest of the person IN the picture.

Why is the moon dust in front of the lander a different colour then to the back of the picture..? Why is there only footprints in the front darker dust and none in the back..? Try and find two footprints that actually match up as if someone was actually walking..? Why is the front facing lander leg visible when it's in shadow..? For example, you cannot see this side of the lander cup at the bottom because it's in shadow. Try and match two footprints...hahaha! Where is his chest mounted camera..? Hahaha!

Loook, he forgot his chest mounted camera...hahaha! Armstrong and Aldrin only had one camera, which they shared. Since Armstrong took the picture, Aldrin can't have the camera then, can he? What's up with only one footprint in front of the astronaugh..? You tell me? It just looks like a footprint to me.

Where are the footprints in the forefront leading to and why do they just seem to disappear on the right hand side..? Why is it if we see footprints from an astronaut that we do not see any tire tracks from the rover, which weighs more then an astronaut..? Notice the white cable on the dune buggy..? The same white cable as was buried by the flag in the previous picture I pointed out to you peeps..? Notice the back is below the top of his head..? compare it to any other pic..hahaha! notice his head is perfectly betwenn mountINS WHEN THISA PIC WAS TAKEN...HAHAHA!

Try and match two footprints...hahaha! I don't even know what the point of this is. There are hundreds of footprints in that picture, if I showed you that many footprints in the sand at a beach you wouldn't be able to match them. Seriously, are you really that stupid? There was one camera per mission... if one astronaut is using it then the other won't have one.

Actually, on Apollo 11 they intentionally left the other camera in the LM. IIRC, it didn't have the silver coating for the Lunar surface. The on other missions both astronauts carried cameras to help with the documentation.
