Slayton is no longer with us but, in his book, "Deke" he stated that Gus Grissom would've had a good shot at being the first on the moon. Gonna re-read the book to, once again, review the early crew assignments.

. . . But I will say these people are complete morons if they think their Apollo 16 jump recreation looks anything like Young's jump. The guy doesn't even jump straight up and his legs swing out and back! I agree; it looks just like he is swinging on a wire!
