I think that this is my favorite MoonMan quote: The moon is in deep space. When it's sunny on the moon is it sunny (light out) in deep space, say 100 miles in space above the moon..? For clarity, for example, when it's sunny out on earth it's also sunny out 50 miles in the sky above the earth. I like to read that one slowly and really think about it all that it means. Somewhere, there's a 3rd grade teacher crying softly in shame at this severe failure of education.

Um, Canada is building a plane faster than the Concorde.
NASA is planning to go back to the Moon for longer than any Apollo mission. What does this have to do with the truth of whether or not Concorde actually flew as fast as is claimed?
That's typical HB logic, shifting the goalposts so that everything defends their view. We're not going to the Moon right now, therefore we never went, they say. We're not currently using supersonic passenger jets, therefore was Concorde also a fake? we ask. Ah but they're planning to make another supersonic passenger transport system, they say as if that verifies the past truth of Concorde. Ah but they're planning a return to the Moon we say. Will they accept that as a verification of the past truth of Apollo?
Will they fairy cakes!

Allright, I'm simply not used to the rules of engagement here. Are we through with the "Delta is three times Saturn" bit of this thread? Ever played 'Asteroids'? It's just gone off the screen- it will probably zip back on behind us, possibly in bits...

You are correct. The rockets they use to launch a satellite is three times that of the Saturn V. Three times what? Minty fresh? Fewer cavities? Cuter? Three times as hebustuous. (Don't worry, it's a new word my work colleagues are trying to introduce into English.)

Allright, I'm simply not used to the rules of engagement here. Are we through with the "Delta is three times Saturn" bit of this thread? What's the point?? There is absolutely nothing at all that you can say or do that will cause MoonMan to explain to you what he meant by "Delta is 3x Saturn" Trust me, we've been dealing with this guy for over a year now. You might as well accept my explaination for the Delta = 3x Saturn statement. That's as close as you're ever going to get to knowing what was going through his head. And you know what, I'm probably right. He probably saw a picture of the three common booster cores and thought, "duuuhhhh, thars three of tham." Seriously, there is no "thread" here. There's no discussion. There's no debate, and there's no educating MoonMan. He doesn't even read the replies. He just pops in and looks at the last page, then randomly hits reply and makes some crazy claim, then he's off to GoodLikeProductions or some similar website. That's all you're ever going to get here.

Oh yeah? Well, some of the early Delta rockets were ten times Saturn! Stupid Apollogists!

So by that logic, my friends 50bhp Smart car is exactly the same as my light turbo charged 150bhp Saab 9000 because they each have only one engine ... ?
Nice one.

He probably saw a picture of the three common booster cores and thought, "duuuhhhh, thars three of tham." Okay, I think I'm starting to understand his methodology. He will look for some trivial, out of context non sequitur and proclaim it as The Proof. So, for example, he might come on again and say "The Saturn V cannot fly to the Moon!" because, well, there's no Saturn V manufactured and sitting fueled on the launch pad and able to start the journey. Then, tune out for a few days while the rational thinkers chew on and finally spit that out; then he's back in for a complete new set of droppings. It's LO's board, but I vote 'troll' and 'ban.'

And if Concorde was so fast, they'd still be flying it. Um, Canada is building a plane faster than the Concorde. Toronto to Tokyo in 1 hour or so. Hmmm, the old "bait and switch" technique. Your post implied that since Saturn V isn't in use anymore, it didn't work as implied. My reply gave you another world-beater that isn't in use anymore - following your logic, Concorde never flew either. Why did you try and change the subject to a Canadian venture? Possibly because you realise your argument about the Saturn V doesn't hold water?

The Delta is bigger than the Saturn V. It was on TV. That's where I saw it. If the Saturn was so great they wouldn't have created the Delta Rocket.

The Delta is bigger than the Saturn V. It was on TV. That's where I saw it. The Saturn V was 30 meters taller than the Delta IV. The Saturn V could lift 118,000 kg to LEO (do you know what LEO means?) The Delta IV can lift 26,000kg to LEO You said, and I quote, "The Delta IV is three times Saturn V" Back that statement up if you can.
