Woo hoo! I hope Neil, Buzz, and Mike have a very very good 39th anniversary...and also all of the tens of thousands involved in making it happen. Bust out your favorite beverages, fire up the grill (or however you want to cook your anniversary feast) and have an unofficial holiday, you amazing folks! ;D

All I can say is this; why take chances? But $4 a gallon fuel might be the self correcting thing we need. That said Jason, if you truly believe humankind isn't behind at least a signifigant part of this warming trend, you're writing off a lot of troubling evidence (much of it from people sitting on the fence as recently as a few years ago) as a huge batch of coincidence. And by the way, I've still not seen Gore's movie (nor do I care if I ever do)

So what does it matter if he's a Muslim? Is there some kind of rule that Muslims can't be presidents? Here here! Does anyone read (and fact check the translation they've read) the gosh darned "scriptures" for themselves anymore? Mistranslations, misinterpretations abound, for one, and, IMHO, if there is a God as the big three Abrahamic religions see it, I'm sure he's very, very disappointed in what "his word" has wrought. Maybe God did talk to folks one on one back then, and now is mute, but that's always seemed illogical and just silly lol There might well be a God...or some entity serving a similar role...and I'm at fault for WANTING to believe it, but faith never has, never will, never can change reality. Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Taoist, Shinto whatever...it's more about our need to believe than the real world.

I will just point out that Nixon wasn't the first US President to lose a war. James Madison was. Like it or not, we lost the War of 1812. I guess it depends on how you define losing, but I'd have to call it a draw. No territory was gained or lost by either side, and one of the main reasons the young U.S. of A. entered the war, that being impressment of Americans into the British navy, was no longer applicable by the end of the conflict, as after the defeat of Napoleon the British navy discontinued the practice. edit- The real winners were Canadians; they avoided takeover by the USA, and the conflict (in both reality and myth) was a major component in fomenting Canadian nationalism.

You mean like his economic policies that had the US economy going from strength to strength and resulted in the largest supplus the US Govenment had ever had. Like not getting involved in wars. Like being President 24/7 and trying to solve the problems that faced the world by peace brokering, and like not being a total idiot outside of times when his pants did his thinking for him? If you want to compare Clinton's Presidency and Basil Bush's, it's a no brainer. I'm no big Bill fan...but it is a no brainer lol Actually I think it might be the C-in-C who's the no brainer

I have no idea, but it's hard to believe an EMP pulse weapon that the USA may or may not have would be used around those parts; it's not like we don't have massive tracts of restricted and uninhabited desert ranges to mess around in, hell, we used to nuke them!

But if they ever do decide to hire someone for an "OBL" video, I hope they get one of those guys from ZZ Top! *To the tune "Gimme All Your Lovin" * "Gimme all your women, put them in my harem too...." Maybe that's OBL's motivation, he's jealous of Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill's beards! ;D

I just can't see the USA attacking Iran. Bush's group of "advisers" (I need not explain why I put that in quotes) had Iraq set in their sights years before the 2000 election, and they played the 9/11 hand they were dealt to further their own agenda to the hilt. I suspect we'd be ass deep in Iraq right now, 9/11 or not (though maybe it would kicked off even earlier) In any case, unless Iran nukes someone, he's not going to get a dime from Congress to pursue this much greater madness, let alone a resolution from congress (which frankly he couldn't do without, not in the present political climate). I'd have to think a war with Iran would be the last thing he wants right now (that said, obviously good planning and thinking hasn't been this administration's forte).

Hitchiking is pretty much illegal here in Utah. And not very safe either - for either the one doing the hitching or the one picking them up. Wow, it's done all the time here in VT, and legally; and I can't recall a bad incident.

I manage a filling station (in the USA, nothing but gasoline/petrol), and the biggest b*tches seem to be those with the biggest vehicles with the biggest displacement engines. While I have sympathy for the odd customer with the beasty Yankmobile full of kids, or someone who really needs a heavy duty truck for their business , I have none for the dude or gal who's using it as their solo daily driver...and they far outnumber the folks (at least in my anecdotal experience) who seem to be driving them for need.

Now, there are two! The alleged Philadelphia Experiment is bogus. It's possible it was a DeGaussing experiment, I believe, but the details have been shown (repeatedly) to be extraordinarily different than claimed by the CTs. Yep, I think you've hit the nail on the head, and much like Roswell, it's one of those theories that's had anecdotes added to it's repertoire throughout it's entire lifetime.

If you allow UC (and whatever stake Indian state and private industrial entities had in it) to place such a plant in a place like that, and THEN allow such poor work practices....disgruntled employees or not...
UC deserved what they got, it's just unfortunate that the others responsible didn't get the ax to anything approaching the same magnitude.

I've probably said this before on another thread here, but this thread demands a similar reply; as prone as young impressionable Muslims are to being talked into human suicide bombing an Israeli mall, an Iraqi cafeteria etc. etc., why is the proposition that what happened on 11 Sept 2001 was due to similar passions and wannbe martyrs so hard to grasp? The absurdity of these sorts of arguments makes me question if some of the folks proposing such things are in their right minds, or if they even pay any attention to the world around them.
